The face behind the business, it’s me! Hi!

Hi, I’m Sophie — a Registered Nurse and aesthetic practitioner based in Manchester, and the founder of Joy by Sophie.

I created Joy by Sophie to offer aesthetic medicine that feels different: consultation-led, inclusive, and grounded in evidence-based care.

As a queer and neurodivergent practitioner, I understand first-hand how important it is for healthcare spaces to feel safe, calm and respectful. My clinic is designed to support people who may have felt uncomfortable or overlooked in traditional aesthetic environments.

Alongside my clinical work, I am also a Master’s student researching sexual health, and I am particularly passionate about gender-affirming aesthetics and neurodivergent-friendly care.

why I started the clinic

I’ve been having aesthetic treatments myself for almost 10 years, and while I’ve always appreciated the positive impact they can have, I’ve also seen the unrealistic expectations and pressures that often exist within the industry.

I founded Joy by Sophie to offer something different — a clinic that prioritises wellbeing, individuality and subtle, natural results, rather than chasing trends or unrealistic beauty standards.

Honestly, ask me anything – there’s no question too small!

Queer- and Neurodivergent-friendly – what does that even mean?

Queer is an umbrella term used to define anyone who isn’t heterosexual or cisgender, it was considered a slur for a long time but it’s now being reclaimed.

To us, being Queer- and Neurodivergent-friendly is to challenge the concept that people should fit into a binary and standing against any form of oppression or marginalisation of anyone in society regardless of ALL characteristics, including sexuality, gender, ethnicity, disability, social class, or beliefs.

In practice, this means appointments that are flexible and tailored to you.
Some patients prefer more time to talk things through, quieter appointments, or clear step-by-step explanations before treatment.

Others may need sensory adjustments such as dimmed lighting, reduced noise or additional breaks during treatment.

Every consultation is adapted to the individual — because there is no one-size-fits-all approach to care.

Medical tray with syringes, a box labeled Styage with lidocaine, cotton applicator, and a blue-and-silver tube, with hands wearing blue gloves.
Wooden shelving unit with various plants, decorations, and a lightbox sign that reads "JUBY SOFIE" in a room with white walls and an electrical outlet.
Colorful geometric pattern with various shapes such as squares, triangles, and rectangles, filled with solid colors and patterns including polka dots and stripes.

The Clinic

The clinic space is designed to feel calm, welcoming and comfortable — more like a relaxed studio than a clinical environment.

With adjustable lighting, plants and soft music, the aim is to create an atmosphere where you can feel at ease during your appointment.
