ALL ABOUT SKIN!
Skin boosters, biostimulators, bioregenerators, polynucleotides, microneedling… confused yet?
The internet seems littered with suggestions and treatments promising better skin and knowing where to start can feel a little overwhelming. Although some treatments might sound similar, they don’t necessarily work in the same way!
This is your quick guide to skin treatments you might hear me talking about in clinic, including what they are, what they do, and why I might recommend one over another….
-
Think - hydration, glow, and improving overall quality!
Injectable treatments made from Hyaluronic Acid and injected into the dermis to improve hydration and skin quality.
Helps skin look plumper, smoother, and more hydrated.
Good for dry, dehydrated or dull skin or when you want that healthy skin glow.
Products include Profhilo, Seventy Hyal, Stylage Hydro/Hydromax, and Revitrane HA20
-
Think encouraging your skin to do more of the work by itself!
Rather than simply adding hydration, these treatments aim to stimulate processes within the skin, including the production of collagen and elastin.
Ingredients might include Hyaluronic acid, Calcium Hydroxylapatite, Poly-L-Lactic Acid, Amino acids, and peptides, all of which work slightly differently.
These treatments are used as part of a longer term skin strategy, rather than just an instant glow.
Products include Jalupro (Classic/Young-Eye and Superhydro), Radiesse and Sculptra
-
Think: skin regeneration and repair
Known famously as the ‘salmon sperm injections’. Polynucleotides use purified DNA fragments to support skin repair, hydration, and overall skin quality through fibroblast activity.
These are great for skin which is more mature or damaged.
Products include Plinest, Vitaran, and Rejuran
-
Think controlled inury - repair - rejuvenation!
Microneedling is the gold standard for skin rejuvenation, which HEEPS of evidence behind it. It uses lots of tiny, controlled needle punctures to trigger the skins repair response.
Can be used anywhere on the body, and is great for working on uneven texture, scarring, enlarged pores, and stretch-marks.
I recommend every patient has a course of microneedling for long term skin health and collagen banking.

Think of the maintenance every other day you don’t have injectables.
Clinic treatments are amazing but these can only do so much. What products you use on your skin and how you take care of it every other day is going to have the biggest impact long term,
Prescriptive skincare focuses on what YOUR skin actually needs, not what the influencers on TikTok tell you to buy.
I offer Obagi Medical in clinic, because of the huge evidence base behind it, its commitment to skin inclusion, and because it is guaranteed to give you transformative results.
Includes treating acne, pigmentation, texture, general ageing concerns, and maintaining your treatment results.
So… which one do you need?
This is the important bit - you don’t need to know! Thats is my job.
Two patients can come into clinic with similar concerns and leave with two different skincare plans. Your skin type, medical history, lifestyle, budget, current skin health, and what you want to achieve all matter and make a difference
Achieving great skin isn’t about throwing everything at your face, its about choosing the right intervention, for the right person, at the right time.
